Built for everyone
noook works with a keyboard and a screen reader, in light, dark and high contrast, and follows your device's settings. You can change the text size, colors and motion right in the app, without any add-on.
Your data, your choice
-
Use it right here
Sign up on this instance and let it run for you.
-
Or on your own server
One command, one Docker container. No tracking and no third-party requests by default.
-
Open source
Free software under the GPL. Read the code, change it, run it.
Self-host in one line
On a Linux server or a Mac with Docker, this sets up noook, creates its secrets and prints the link to finish the setup. Run it again to update.
curl -fsSL https://noook.boatware3.dev/install.sh | bash
There's also a Docker image (ghcr.io/boatware/noook) and a ready Docker Compose file for Coolify. Read the self-hosting guide
Native apps and integrations
Everything in noook goes through an open, documented REST API, the same one this web app uses. Build your own app, a widget or an automation.
Questions
What does noook cost?
The software is free and open source. Running it yourself costs only your server.
Who can see my household's data?
Only the members of your household. Admins of an instance see numbers, like how many households exist, but never what you store.
Does it work offline?
The shopping list does: you can tick things off without signal, and noook catches up when you're back online.
Can I install it on my phone?
Yes. noook is a web app you can add to your home screen; it then opens like any other app.
Which languages are there?
English and German. Adding a language is one file; see the translation guide on GitHub.
